This spring’s free agency period was a busy one for the Minnesota Vikings.

They brought in 13 new players via the open market and re-signed a number of their own free agents. With the free agency period winding down, here is an updated look at the Vikings depth chart including their newest players.

Quarterback

  1. Sam Darnold
  2. Nick Mullens
  3. Jaren Hall

The Vikings are seeing some pretty massive changes across their roster this offseason, particularly at the quarterback position. No more is Kirk Cousins leading the way from under center, and for now, it would appear that Sam Darnold is set to be QB1. That could change in a couple short weeks when the NFL Draft arrives.

Running Back

  1. Aaron Jones
  2. Ty Chandler
  3. C.J. Ham
  4. Kene Nwangwu
  5. Myles Gaskin
  6. DeWayne McBride

The Vikings will have a new leader in their RB room for the second consecutive season after they parted ways with Alexander Mattison and brought in Aaron Jones. Jones, who spent his first seven NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers, will now try to help Ty Chandler in order to stabilize a rushing offense that has struggled over the past few years.

Wide Receiver

  1. Justin Jefferson
  2. Jordan Addison
  3. Brandon Powell
  4. Trent Sherfield
  5. Jalen Nailor
  6. N’Keal Harry
  7. Trishton Jackson
  8. Lucky Jackson
  9. Daylen Baldwin
  10. Malik Knowles
  11. Thayer Thomas

Minnesota’s wide receiver room is very top heavy right now. They have a very talented duo at the top in Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson, but without K.J. Osborn in the mix, they will need to either draft another player or hope that some of their current depth pieces step up.

Tight End

  1. T.J. Hockenson
  2. Josh Oliver
  3. Johnny Mundt
  4. Nick Muse

Of course, Minnesota’s tight end room remains exactly the same as last year, but with the major caveat being T.J. Hockenson’s health. The star suffered a torn ACL and MCL last December, so questions remain regarding his health heading into the year.

Offensive Tackle

  1. Christian Darrisaw
  2. Brian O’Neill
  3. David Quessenberry
  4. Coy Cronk

Quietly, the Vikings could use some more depth at the offensive tackle spot. David Quessenberry’s return was very welcomed to help with that, but for now, Coy Cronk would be the only other backup if Minnesota doesn’t make another addition.

Interior Offensive Line

  1. Garrett Bradbury
  2. Ed Ingram
  3. Blake Brandel
  4. Dan Feeney
  5. Henry Byrd
  6. Tyrese Robinson

The Vikings’ big question on the offensive line right now comes at left guard. Dalton Risner remains unsigned, and for now, Blake Brandel would be the starting option at that spot despite never playing the position during his NFL career.

Defense

Defensive Line

  1. Harrison Phillips
  2. Jonathan Bullard
  3. Jerry Tillery
  4. Jonah Williams
  5. Jaquelin Roy

Harrison Phillips and Jonathan Bullard return as the leaders of the defensive line in Minnesota, but outside of quarterback, this group feels like the one with the biggest need in 2024. If the Vikings can find another contributor in the draft to play alongside their veterans, they’ll be in great shape.

Outside Linebacker

  1. Jonathan Greenard
  2. Andrew Van Ginkel
  3. Jihad Ward
  4. Patrick Jones
  5. Andre Carter

The edge rushing group in Minnesota saw a complete overhaul at the top of the depth chart. All three of Marcus Davenport, Danielle Hunter, and D.J. Wonnum are out, and in come Jonathan Greenard, Andrew Van Ginkel, and Jihad Ward.

Inside Linebacker

  1. Ivan Pace
  2. Blake Cashman
  3. Kamu Grugier-Hill
  4. Brian Asamoah
  5. Abraham Beauplan

Jordan Hicks turned his strong 2023 season into a new contract with the Cleveland Browns, but Minnesota found a younger option in Minnesota native Blake Cashman. Additionally, Kamu Grugier-Hill can turn into another solid depth option to help replace Troy Dye.

Cornerback

  1. Byron Murphy
  2. Akayleb Evans
  3. Mekhi Blackmon
  4. Shaquill Griffin
  5. Andrew Booth
  6. Joejuan Williams
  7. NaJee Thompson
  8. Jaylin Williams
  9. A.J. Green

The Vikings retained their entire cornerback group from 2023, but in addition, they made the acquisition of Shaquill Griffin, who has plenty of starting experience in the NFL.

Safety

  1. Harrison Smith
  2. Camryn Bynum
  3. Josh Metellus
  4. Theo Jackson
  5. Jay Ward
  6. Lewis Cine

Harrison Smith is back after restructuring his contract, and as a result, Minnesota’s safety room looks exactly the same as it did in 2023. This was the group that really led the way for the Vikings defense last season, so it is very promising to see this position back.

Special Teams

Kicker

  1. John Parker Romo

Punter

  1. Ryan Wright

Long Snapper

  1. Andrew DePaola

Minnesota’s main question on special teams comes at kicker. Greg Joseph jumped across the state border and now is a Green Bay Packer. As a result, John Parker Romo looks to be Minnesota’s main option unless they make another addition via the draft or later in free agency.
