The Minnesota Vikings have made a couple changes on their coaching staff over the past few weeks.

However, it seems that those changes have officially come to an end after Minnesota announced on Friday that they have officially finalized their coaching staff for the 2024 season. The Vikings made the announcement via a publication on the team website.

Here is a look at all 27 coaches who will be featured on Minnesota’s staff this season:

Head Coach

  • Kevin O’Connell

Kevin O’Connell is entering his third season as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. Prior to his stint with the Vikings, O’Connell spent three seasons as an offensive coordinator in Washington (2019) and with the Los Angeles Rams (2020-2021). During his time in Minnesota, the Vikings have gone a combined 20-14, making the playoffs during his first season in 2022.

Coordinators/Assistant Head Coach

  • Wes Phillips, Offensive Coordinator
  • Brian Flores, Defensive Coordinator
  • Matt Daniels, Special Teams Coordinator
  • Mike Pettine, Assistant Head Coach/Outside Linebackers

The Vikings managed to retain all three of their coordinators for the 2024 season while Mike Pettine returns as O’Connell’s assistant head coach. Phillips and Daniels joined the Vikings back in 2022 alongside O’Connell and are entering their third seasons as coordinators in Minnesota. Meanwhile, Flores is coming off a spectacular inaugural season as the Vikings defensive coordinator in which Minnesota’s defense ranked among the top half of the league in terms of both total points and yards allowed.

Position Coaches

  • Brian Angelichio, Passing Game Coordinator/Tight Ends
  • Ryan Cordell, Game Management Coordinator/Passing Game Specialist
  • Marcus Dixon, Defensive Line
  • Michael Hutchings, Safeties
  • Daronte Jones, Passing Game Coordinator/Defensive Backs
  • Chris Kuper, Offensive Line
  • Keenan McCardell, Wide Receivers
  • Josh McCown, Quarterbacks
  • Curtis Modkins, Running Game Coordinator/Running Backs
  • Mike Siravo, Inside Linebackers
  • Imarjaye Albury, Sr., Defensive Assistant

The most notable addition for the Vikings’ position coaches is the hire of Josh McCown, who is taking over the role of quarterbacks coach in Minnesota. McCown spent 18 seasons as a professional quarterback, including 17 years of NFL experience. He played for 12 different teams over his career and 102 games and made 76 starts. His teams went 23-53 in those starts, and in total, he completed 60.2% of his passes for 17,731 yards along with 98 TDs compared to 82 INTs.

Minnesota also managed to retain WRs coach Keenan McCardell, a move which was likely met with delight from many receivers on the team. McCardell spent 16 seasons as an NFL receiver, making two Pro Bowls before transitioning to coaching. He has been with the Vikings since 2021 and has been in the mix for multiple offensive coordinator roles since then.

Assistants

  • Lance Bennett, Quality Control — Defense
  • Thad Bogardus, Assistant Inside Linebackers
  • Ben Ellefson, Offensive Assistant
  • Dalmin Gibson, Assistant Special Teams
  • Pat Hill, Assistant Defensive Line
  • Derron Montgomery, Quality Control — Offense
  • Chris O’Hara, Senior Offensive Assistant
  • Shaun Sarrett, Assistant Offensive Line
  • Henry Schneider IV, Assistant to the Head Coach
  • Tony Sorrentino, Assistant Wide Receivers
  • Grant Udinski, Assistant Offensive Coordinator/Assistant Quarterbacks

The Vikings made a few additions to their group of assistant coaches as well this offseason. Shaun Sarrett joined the group as the assistant offensive line coach after three seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers in the same role. Meanwhile, Henry Schneider is Minnesota’s new assistant to the head coach after he spent five years with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Meanwhile, Vikings fans with an astute eye will recognize Ben Ellefson on this list as well. Ellefson spent three seasons as an NFL tight end, including two in Minnesota, but injuries forced the 27-year-old into an early retirement before the 2023 season. He has found a new role with the team as an offensive assistant coach.
