The Minnesota Vikings are preparing to close their regular season against the Detroit Lions.

The Vikings had a lengthy injury report on Wednesday, and unfortunately, a 10th player was added to Thursday’s report. That player is stalwart left tackle Christian Darrisaw, who sat out Thursday’s session with an illness.

Here is a look at the full injury report for Minnesota from Thursday’s practice:

  • Mekhi Blackmon (Shoulder, DNP)
  • Christian Darrisaw (Illness, DNP)
  • RG Ed Ingram (Shoulder, Limited)
  • S Theo Jackson (Toe, Limited)
  • CB Byron Murphy (Knee, DNP)
  • TE Nick Muse (Knee, Limited)
  • WR Jalen Nailor (Concussion, DNP)
  • RT Brian O’Neill (Ankle, DNP)
  • DL Jaquelin Roy (Ankle, DNP)
  • S Harrison Smith (Shoulder, Limited)

After Darrisaw was a notable snub from the 2024 Pro Bowl Games roster, his status for Week 18 is in question. Considering Brian O’Neill was also listed as DNP for the second day in a row, the Vikings could be without both starting tackles going into Sunday’s game against Detroit.

If that were to happen, there is a question as to who would start at tackle for the Vikings. David Quessenberry would undoubtedly take one of the starting roles as he’s made three starts already this season. However, Minnesota would have to make a decision between Hakeem Adeniji, who has not taken a snap with the offense yet this year, and Blake Brandel, who made the swap to guard this year.

Of course, Brandel has spent time playing the tackle spots for the Vikings in the past. Last year, he made three starts for the Vikings and played well enough for there to be confidence in his abilities.

Elsewhere on the injury report, the Vikings secondary continues to look banged up going into the final week of the season. Mekhi Blackmon was downgraded to a DNP on Thursday after being a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice with a shoulder injury.

Meanwhile, it seems like Byron Murphy is trending towards missing his third consecutive game after he missed another practice with his knee injury. The Vikings may need to turn to Andrew Booth as a starter this weekend if both Blackmon and Murphy were to miss Sunday’s game. It could be a good opportunity to get the former second-round pick some extra reps with the defense.

On the other side, the Lions also made two additions to their Thursday injury report. Graham Glasgow did not practice, but it was listed as a rest day. Meanwhile, Benito Jones was also absent with an illness. Otherwise, their injury report remains largely the same as Wednesday’s.

Both Detroit and Minnesota will release one more injury report on Friday with initial game statuses for their players. Then, kickoff between the two teams is scheduled for 12 PM Central inside Ford Field on Sunday, January 7th.
