The View from VT: Good Trade News, 3 Realistic QB Options, & Adding a Pro Bowler

The View from VT: March 23rd, 2024
1) Commanders’ Trade is Good News for Vikings: Unless something wild happens, Washington will hold onto pick No. 2 and snag a young passer. Doing so will remove one talented quarterback from the board. Does that somehow mean good things for the Minnesota Vikings?
2) After the Huge Vikings Trade: 3 Most Realistic QB Draft Options: The QB speculation is going to be a dominant topic in the coming weeks. Finding a way to retain Kirk Cousins would have quieted them a bit but his departure means it’s full steam ahead for the passer possibilities in the 2024 NFL Draft. Pulling off the trade with the Texans last week is doing nothing to slow things down.
3) Vikings Sign Former Pro Bowler: Looks like a nice add for the Vikings. Last season’s defense did quite well, all things considered. And yet the reality is that Brian Flores needs more talent at all three levels of his defense if they’re going to grow from above average to very good. Attaching the veteran corner to the roster looks like a smart decision.
4) Vikings One Signing Away from Home Run Free Agency: The GM has put a ton of work into beefing up the defense. Would one more addition bring things to completion? No doubt, the defensive line could see use an infusion of talent.
5) Vikings Pull Off Most Significant Trade in Years: In a lot of ways, folks, the decision to do business with Houston was Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s most significant trade. But, crucially, that’s an interpretation that hinges on the expectation for what comes next. The Texans deal looks more important than the pair of Detroit agreements since many are expecting Adofo-Mensah to pull off a blockbuster on or before April 25th.
