The View from VT: Ex-Viking Signed and Then Hurt, Rattling Training Camp, and QB Trade

Vikings Territory works in partnership with PurplePTSD, similarly doing their utmost to put forth excellent Minnesota Vikings content. As a result, we promote what they have to offer in “The View from VT,” a weekly piece. Take a look at five of their articles from the past week.
The View from VT: August 10th, 2024
1) Ex-Viking Signs with 49ers, Gets Hurt Hours Later: Brutal news for Pat Elflein. It’s easy to forget, but there was a lot of optimism for the interior o-lineman when he first arrived. Even after Garrett Bradbury became the replacement, Elflein was someone who many thought could succeed at guard. Injuries have been an unfortunate part of his story.

2) Another Injury Rattles Vikings Training Camp: Injuries are the great fear within training camp. Every team wants to head into the season at 100% and yet even the most basic understanding of football tells us that the ideal rarely happens. Hopefully, injuries will be minor, thereby allowing for players to battle back.
3) Vikings QB Evidently a Trade Target: The basic thinking is that four will be too many. Someone from within the quartet needs to get moved out. A cut has the downside of losing someone for nothing, so does that mean Jaren Hall gets sent out for a late-round pick?

4) Vikings QB1 Battle Takes a Sharp Turn: The safest assumption remains that Sam Darnold will be the starter in Week 1. J.J. McCarthy, though, has been doing some good things. Did the team’s depth chart throw a bit of a curveball?
5) One Name Keeps Emerging at Vikings Training Camp: As a 7th-Round selection, Levi Drake Rodriguez is no guarantee to get onto the final roster. Seeing so much attention be paid to the young DT is certainly a good thing. The young fella needs to keep progressing; if he does, there could end up being a spot on the 53-man roster.
