The View from VT: April 6th, 2024

1) 4 Vikings Players Who Could be Traded: Of all the players who find their names in the rumors, Nick Mullens seems the most likely to be moved. Minnesota currently has three QBs on the roster but the draft could very plausibly move things to four. If three’s a crowd, then four is … a lot. Expect teams around the NFL to be interested in Mullens; legitimately, the man can play.

2) There’s a T.J. Hockenson Update: Whoever is passing the ball will want Hockenson to be available. The talented tight end probably should have been an All Pro for his efforts in 2023. Finishing off the regular season fully healthy may have been enough for Hockenson to hit a few notable statistical benchmarks and thus secure the individual honor.

3) All Fingers Keep Pointing to One Trade Partner for Vikings: New England and Minnesota do have plenty of connections. Kevin O’Connell got his start as a player in New England and Brian Flores got his coaching career off the ground there. Partner those basic realities with a Patriots roster that has needs aplenty and maybe a trade makes sense.

4) Vikings Slide Down the List for One Rookie QB: Like a single candle in the stormy night, I continue to argue that Bo Nix is a realistic option for Minnesota. Very likely? No, not really. But possible. Apparently, people who know more than me — there are many — think that Nix to Minnesota is growing increasingly unlikely.

5) The 3 Worst-Case Scenarios for Vikings Draft: Anyone who has followed the Vikings for some time would will be able to tell of their own disappointment and heartbreak. So, exploring some possible worst-case scenarios won’t be a far-fetched or incomprehensible exercise.
