After the draft, football slows down.

But while that basic reality stands, there really isn’t too much downtime to speak of in the NFL; the Vikings’ next important dates aren’t too far into the future. Yes, the event that took place in Detroit is viewed by many as being the climactic moment of the spring and summer, but there is plenty of work ahead.

The Vikings’ Next Offseason Dates to Remember

There’s going to be a major financial decision due by May 2nd (read more).

On that day, GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah will have to decide on the 5th-year option for left tackle Christian Darrisaw. Truth be told, the decision has been made already. Darrisaw’s only flaw — if we can even call it that — is that he has missed a bit of time due to injury. Otherwise, he has been a borderline elite LT and is only turning 25 in June. Expect the option to be picked up.

Rookie minicamp is going to take place not too long afterwards. On either May 3-6 or May 10-13, the Vikings will be getting things moving with their first-year players.

Scattered across May will be OTAs for the Vikings. The initial one takes place from May 20-21, but then there will be instalments on May 23, May 28-29, and May 31. In fact, it dips over into June, with the last round of OTAs taking place from June 10-13. Take a look at the work from Lindsey Young at Vikings.com for more info.

Meanwhile, mandatory minicamp will run from June 4-6. All eyes will be on Justin Jefferson’s presence — or lack thereof — at TCO Performance Center.

The best receiver in the NFL desires a new deal. Can you blame him? Even after missing a full seven games in 2023 and part of two more, Jefferson still pushed his stats to historic heights across his four seasons. He’s a superstar, a reality that Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, Kevin O’Connell, and teammates collectively understand. Safe to say that all eyes will be on this situation as the offseason continues to unfold.

In time, we’ll learn more about when the team’s training camp will get going. Nothing is certain for the precise date but look for somewhere in late July.

When that time comes, PurplePTSD will be there to breakdown all of the news.
