The Vikings’ Depth Chart Going into Week 2
The Vikings’ depth chart looks a bit better, doesn’t it? Safe to say there was a bit of doubt about how Minnesota would fare in 2024 — and, in fairness, there still is — but the Week 1 victory does a lot to inspire optimism.
One thinks of Andrew Van Ginkel as perhaps the best example. The outside linebacker is such a smart player. He was a terror, lining up in different spots and doing all kinds of wonderful things, such as his sack, his interception, and his touchdown. Safe to say there’s a ton of excitement about what he’ll be able to do over these next sixteen games.
But, no doubt, the optimism doesn’t stop there. Running back Aaron Jones was great, Jalen Nailor had the touchdown, left tackle Christian Darrisaw was a monster, and no shortage of other players shined, as well. How about Sam Darnold? Harrison Smith? Oh, and Blake Brandel, too. Lots of praise to go around.
San Francisco is genuinely one of the best teams in the NFL, so overcoming them in Week 2 would function as a major statement that the Vikings are far better than people are giving them credit for right now. Can Kevin O’Connell’s team pull off the upset?
