Sports are supposed to be fun. The Minnesota Vikings like to test the limits of that simple truth, but the basic idea still stands: following a sports team should bring at least some level of enjoyment.

To that end, nicknames can be an important part of the mix. Anyone who has been involved in athletics can attest to how nicknames are a common feature of teams. Often, they’re signs of inclusion as unique monikers get bestowed upon people as a way of demonstrating affection and affiliation.

Last year, PurplePTSD published a piece detailing some of the nicknames for the 2023 Minnesota Vikings. With the new season just days away, it’s time to unveil the new set of nicknames.

In a lot of instances, I learned about the nicknames simply by listening to press conferences and hearing the players/coaches speak about each other. Matt Daniels is particularly prolifiic when it comes to coming up with great names. At other times, though, I searched around the web for help with tracking down the nicknames. In those instances, I’ve included the source.

Enjoy.
