Over the past little bit, I’ve been unveiling a position-by-position roster projection for the Vikings.
Things have begun on Kevin O’Connell’s side of the ball. The Vikings’ pre-training camp roster projection includes a total of twenty-five players for offense. Keeping things to that limit leaves the defense with twenty-five slots and then there are three remaining slots for the special teams. Consider how things are looking so far.
The Vikings’ Offensive Projection
Quarterback:
- QB1: Sam Darnold
- QB2: J.J. McCarthy
- QB3: Jaren Hall
Running Back:
- RB1: Aaron Jones
- RB2: Ty Chandler
- RB3: Kene Nwangwu
Fullback:
- FB1: C.J. Ham
Wide Receiver:
- WR1: Justin Jefferson
- WR2: Jordan Addison
- WR3: Brandon Powell
- WR4: Jalen Nailor
- WR5: Trishton Jackson
Tight End:*
- TE1: Josh Oliver
- TE2: Johnny Mundt
- TE3: Robert Tonyan
- TE4: Nick Muse
Offensive Tackle:
- OT1: Christian Darrisaw
- OT2: Brian O’Neill
- OT3: David Quessenberry
- OT4: Walter Rouse
Offensive Guard:
- OG1: Dalton Risner
- OG2: Ed Ingram
- OG3: Blake Brandel
- OG4: Dan Feeney
Center:**
- C1: Garrett Bradbury
* The assumption is that T.J. Hockenson won’t be available to start the season due to his injury recovery.
** If the Vikings needed a backup center to jump in, Dan Feeney would get the call. He’s depth at both guard and center.
Before training camp arrives, I’ll be doing a position-by-position roster projection in an effort to understand what the final 53-man roster could look like. Once training camp and the preseason unfold, we can swing back around to the projections to see about any adjustments. Entries: Quarterback, Running Back, Tight End, Wide Receiver, and Offensive Line.
