Vikings Statistical Rankings Through Week 15: Offense

Minnesota Vikings running back Ty Chandler (32) eyes the goal line on a touchdown run in the first quarter of a Week 15 NFL football game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Cincinnati Bengals, Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati.

The Minnesota Vikings had a decent day on the offensive side of the ball on Saturday, but it ultimately wasn’t enough as they fell to the Cincinnati Bengals in overtime, 27-24.

With the weekend behind us, today we will be breaking down the Vikings statistical rankings on offense through Week 15 as a whole, and where individual players stand. Shout out to Pro-Football-ReferencePro Football Focus, and nfeloapp.com for the numbers that went into this article. Stay tuned for the defensive rankings later today as well.

NOTE: Individual PFF Grades are sorted to include players with at least 20% of the league leader’s number of dropbacks, carries, or targets.

Just as the Vikings were climbing out of the depths of the turnover rankings, they fell back down to 30th after Saturday’s performance. Nick Mullens threw a pair of ugly interceptions in the first half, and they were a major reason why the Vikings were unable to pull out a win.

Once again, Minnesota had a bit of trouble converting on late downs as well, converting just five of their 13 attempts on third or fourth downs. They remain in the middle of the pack on third downs.

  • EPA/run: -0.16 (26th)

Ty Chandler did a great job of helping drag the Vikings rushing offense out of the cellar on Saturday, totaling 132 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. Minnesota still sits among the bottom 10 in the league in terms of rushing yards per game, but another big showing against the Lions could finally get them out of that group.

Ironically, PFF seems to believe that the Vikings offensive line has not been holding up their end of the bargain in terms of run-blocking, and they fell down to 10th this week, a season-low for the group.
