The Minnesota Vikings rested up on their bye week during Week 13, but plenty of other action happened across the NFL to shuffle the rankings in the league.

With the weekend behind us, today we will be breaking down the Vikings statistical rankings on offense through Week 13 as a whole, and where individual players stand. Shout out to Pro-Football-ReferencePro Football Focus, and nfeloapp.com for the numbers that went into this article. Stay tuned for the defensive rankings later today as well.

NOTE: Individual PFF Grades are sorted to include players with at least 20% of the league leader’s number of dropbacks, carries, or targets. In addition, with many of the teams now having their bye weeks behind them, we’ll be transitioning towards per game numbers for the team statistics.

Total Offense

  • Points Scored per Game: 21.9 (15th)
  • Total Yards per Game: 350.7 (10th)
  • Plays per Game: 63.3 (17th)
  • Yards per Play: 5.5 (9th)
  • Turnovers per Game: 2.00 (T-31st)
  • First Downs per Game: 20.3 (10th)
  • Penalties per Game: 4.83 (2nd)
  • Third-Down Conversion Percentage: 40.3% (16th)
  • Fourth-Down Conversion Percentage: 66.67% (T-2nd)
  • Red Zone TD Percentage: 50.0% (T-24th)
  • Overall PFF Grade: 79.3 (T-7th)
  • EPA/play: -0.04 (16th)

Post-bye, there are two areas that the Vikings must get better in with their overall offense. They have to stop turning the ball over, and they need to convert more of their third downs. The turnovers especially have derailed multiple games for this team, and Week 12 was the latest example of that.

Passing Offense

  • Completions per Game: 25.8 (T-1st)
  • Pass Attempts per Game: 37.4 (T-3rd)
  • Passing Yards per Game: 258.6 (6th)
  • Net Passing Yards per Attempt: 6.5 (T-9th)
  • Passing First Downs per Game: 12.9 (6th)
  • Passing TDs per Game: 1.92 (T-4th)
  • Interceptions per Game: 0.83 (T-19th)
  • Passing PFF Grade: 82.0 (8th)
  • Pass-Blocking PFF Grade: 76.6 (1st)
  • Receiving PFF Grade: 75.6 (7th)

Rushing Offense

  • Carries per Game: 23.7 (28th)
  • Rushing Yards per Game: 92.1 (28th)
  • Yards per Carry: 3.9 (T-23rd)
  • Rushing First Downs per Game: 4.75 (29th)
  • Rushing TDs per Game: 0.42 (T-28th)
  • Fumbles Lost per Game: 1.17 (32nd)
  • Rushing PFF Grade: 70.6 (26th)
  • Run-Blocking PFF Grade: 68.3 (7th)

On the bright side, the Vikings rushing offense was rather effective against a tough Bears defense. Alexander Mattison, in particular, had a strong game by carrying the ball 10 times for 52 yards. Hopefully that is a good sign for the team moving forward after their bye week. However, Minnesota simply could not move the ball through the air with Josh Dobbs, and it resulted in Minnesota taking a pretty sizeable tumble down some of the rankings.
