Monday night did not turn out for the Minnesota Vikings as they lost to the Chicago Bears by a score of 12-10 and fell to 6-6 on the season.

With the weekend behind us, today we will be breaking down the Vikings statistical rankings on offense through Week 12 as a whole, and where individual players stand. Shout out to Pro-Football-ReferencePro Football Focus, and nfeloapp.com for the numbers that went into this article. Stay tuned for the defensive rankings later today as well.

NOTE: Individual PFF Grades are sorted to include players with at least 20% of the league leader’s number of dropbacks, carries, or targets. In addition, with many of the teams now having their bye weeks behind them, we’ll be transitioning towards per game numbers for the team statistics.

Total Offense

  • Points Scored per Game: 21.9 (14th)
  • Total Yards per Game: 350.7 (10th)
  • Plays per Game: 63.3 (17th)
  • Yards per Play: 5.5 (9th)
  • Turnovers per Game: 2.00 (2nd)

  • Red Zone TD Percentage: 50.0% (T-22nd)
  • Overall PFF Grade: 79.3 (9th)
  • EPA/play: -0.04 (16th)

The Vikings offense as a whole did not play very well against Chicago. The turnover problems struck again for Minnesota, and once again, they are averaging a pair of turnovers a game. The only team with more turnovers per game than the Vikings is the Cleveland Browns.

Passing Offense

  • Completions per Game: 25.8 (2nd)
  • Pass Attempts per Game: 37.4 (4th)
  • Passing Yards per Game: 258.6 (6th)

  • Receiving PFF Grade: 75.6 (7th)

  • Rushing Yards per Game: 92.1 (29th)
  • Yards per Carry: 3.9 (25th)
  • Rushing First Downs per Game: 4.75 (28th)
  • Rushing TDs per Game: 0.42 (26th)
  • Fumbles Los per Game: 1.17 (32nd)
  • Rushing PFF Grade: 70.6 (24th)
  • Run-Blocking PFF Grade: 68.3 (8th)

On the bright side, the Vikings rushing offense was rather effective against a tough Bears defense. Alexander Mattison, in particular, had a strong game by carrying the ball 10 times for 52 yards. However, Minnesota simply could not move the ball through the air with Josh Dobbs, and it resulted in Minnesota taking a pretty sizeable tumble down some of the rankings.
