In the aftermath of the Vikings Week 5 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, the team placed Justin Jefferson on IR due to a hamstring injury.

As a result, the team was left with only three wide receivers on the 53-man roster heading into Week 6, so so they made the decision to sign both N’Keal Harry and Trishton Jackson from the practice squad.

However, it seems that Minnesota no longer requires the services of both players on the active roster as the Vikings waived Jackson on Tuesday.

The Vikings announced the move on social media, tweeting, “The #Vikings have waived WR Trishton Jackson.”

The young receiver did get a chance to play on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, appearing in four snaps with the offense and two on special teams. It was the second game he’s played this season.

Jackson has been in the Vikings organization since 2021 when they added him to their practice squad. He was very close to making the roster in 2022, but he was part of the final wave of cuts and again landed on the practice squad.

The receiver had a very strong summer with the Vikings in 2023. He appeared in the final two preseason games this year and caught 3 passes for 29 yards. However, Minnesota’s wide receiver depth was always going to make it tough for him to make the final roster.

Prior to his time in Minnesota, Jackson actually spent the 2020 season with the Los Angeles Rams when current Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell was the offensive coordinator in LA. However, he did not appear in any regular season games during his time there.

As long as Jackson clears waivers in the next couple days, it seems very likely that he will return to Minnesota’s practice squad.
