Vikings Secondary Remains Shorthanded for Week 12
The Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears are set to kick off their Week 12 matchup in just about an hour.
Ahead of the game, the Vikings have released their inactive list for Monday night’s action, and it appears that the Vikings secondary will remain shorthanded for this game as CB Akayleb Evans was listed among those players that will not suit up.
Vikings Secondary Remains Shorthanded for Week 12
Here is the full list of inactives for the Vikings on Monday night:
- CB Akayleb Evans
- QB Jaren Hall (3rd QB)
- TE Nick Muse
- LB Nick Vigil
- IOL Chris Reed
- OT Hakeem Adeniji
Evans suffered a calf strain during the Vikings Week 10 game against the New Orleans Saints, and he missed last weekend’s game against the New Orleans Saints because of it. Now, he is set to miss his second consecutive game despite being a limited participant throughout practices this week.
In his stead, Mekhi Blackmon has been getting the majority of the snaps at the cornerback spot. Blackmon recorded his first career interception down the stretch of Minnesota’s game against New Orleans while also making his first NFL start last week against Denver.
Unfortunately, the smaller cornerback was caught on the wrong end of Courtland Sutton’s game-winning TD at the end of the game, but hopefully he is able to hold up better against Chicago’s receiving group.
For the Bears, they will also be without a couple of their own playmakers on Monday night. Both RB D’Onta Foreman and CB Tyrique Stevenson have been listed as inactive. Foreman was listed as doubtful on Saturday because of his lingering ankle/shin injury while the rookie Stevenson was a late addition to Saturday’s injury report with his own ankle injury.
This is a pivotal game for the Vikings as they try to move up to the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoff race. They could also move within 1.5 games of the Detroit Lions for the NFC North crown with a win. Those two teams will meet in Weeks 16 and 18, so a victory tonight would set up a couple very important games down the stretch.
Kickoff between Chicago and Minnesota is scheduled for 7:15 PM Central inside U.S. Bank Stadium.
