With the initial 53-man rosters being set across the NFL on Tuesday, teams have been filling up their practice squads over the past 24 hours.

The Vikings added a total of 14 players to their practice squad on Wednesday. Then, Thursday morning saw the Vikings reunite with a veteran linebacker: Nick Vigil.

Vigil spent one season with the Vikings earlier in his career. It was the 2021 season where he recorded 85 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, a sack, and an interception. He would start 12 games for the Vikings that year.

Prior to his stint in Minnesota, Vigil was a third-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent his first four NFL seasons with the Bengals, recording 295 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 14 passes defended, and 2 interceptions.

Following the 2019 season, he joined the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020 and recorded 50 tackles along with 3 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. Vigil largely played as a reserve during that season, starting only two games for the Chargers.

Vigil spent the 2021 season in Minnesota, but following that year, he went to Arizona and joined the Cardinals. That year saw very limited playing time, though, because of injury. He went to IR in October and appeared in just four games over the course of the season.

Arizona Cardinals inside linebacker Nick Vigil (57) stretches during Arizona Cardinals practice at State Farm Stadium on Friday, July 29, 2022, in Glendale.

Now, Vigil heads back to Minnesota, likely due to Troy Reeder going back to the Rams. Vigil can be a solid depth option for the Vikings this year.
