The Minnesota Vikings began making their roster cuts on Sunday evening, beginning with the release of LB Tanner Vallejo.

Minnesota continued those cuts shortly thereafter by releasing two more players. Those now former Vikings are LB Wilson Huber and OT Jarrid Williams.

The news was reported by Tom Pelissero in the same Twitter thread where he reported the Vallejo news. Pelissero wrote, “The #Vikings also cut OT Jarrid Williams and LB Wilson Huber.”

Cincinnati linebacker Wilson Huber (2) tackles UCF Knights wide receiver Xavier Townsend (3) on a punt return in the teams’ meeting, their last as American Athletic Conference members, in 2022.

Williams joined the team prior to their first preseason game. He appeared in the first and third exhibition games for the Vikings, appearing in 51 snaps over the course of the two games. He allowed three pressures and a sack in pass protection.

The offensive tackle spent a whopping seven seasons at the college level from 2015-2021. The offensive lineman split time with Houston (2015-2019) and Miami (2020-2021). He did not get on the field at all during that 2015 season for the Hurricanes, and he was largely just a rotational player during both 2016 and 2017.

However, despite a strong final season, Williams went undrafted in 2022. He ultimately signed as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he did not get any playing time with the team. He’s also had short stints with the Detroit Lions, and most recently, he was waived by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As for Huber, Minnesota added him as an undrafted free agent this spring. He was a teammate of Ivan Pace’s at Cincinnati, but Pace very quickly rose up the depth chart, limiting Huber’s opportunities.

Over five years with the Bearcats, Huber played in 45 games and recorded 83 tackles including 13 tackles for loss and five sacks.

While in Minnesota, Huber played all three preseason games and appeared in 89 defensive snaps, amassing 9 tackles. 7 of those tackles came on Saturday against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Vikings roster now sits at 88 players with plenty of cuts to come over the next couple of days. Minnesota must have their roster down to 53 players by 3 PM Central on Tuesday, August 29th.
