Vikings Podcast: The Top 5 NFC QBs and The Super Bowl Chance

The podcast has gone into full offseason mode, folks. On the latest episode of Notes from the North – a humble Vikings podcast – Sizzlin’ Sam and I assess the top NFC QBs while considering how challenging the conference will be.

Take a look at what Sizzlin’ Sam had to say: “On this week’s episode, Kyle and Sam engage in the exercise of ranking the 5 best QB’s in the NFC heading into 2023. They discuss who belongs in the conversation, the AFC/NFC discrepancy, and where Cousins belongs on the list.”

Not too long ago, Kirk Cousins received a strong assessment from PFF. The article ranks all 32 projected starters, positioning Cousins just inside the top 10 with a 9th overall finish. Not bad. Quite often, onlookers fail to give #8 the credit he’s due.

While there are legitimate criticisms about Cousins’ play, there can be little debate that he’s among the conference’s best quarterbacks. Ultra tough, consistent, and durable, Kirk Cousins has the capacity to elevate even higher. The appeal of continuity is strong, especially when we remember how much Cousins has had to adapt to during his 11-year NFL career. Keeping the same play caller – none other than head coach Kevin O’Connell – is a major win for Cousins.

A top priority rests in ensuring Cousins gets hit way less. He was sacked 46 times in 2022, the most he has ever taken in a season in his career. Keeping him comfortable and on his own two feet will be paramount to the team’s capacity to push for the conference.

Folks who are into Vikings podcasts or think they’d like to get into Vikings podcasts should feel free to give Notes from the North a shot. Hop over to iTunes, Spotify, or Podbean. My understanding is that you don’t need an account at these spots. Just press play and enjoy the pod.

Enjoy the listening, Vikings fan.
