Vikings Podcast: Presser Recap

The Brian Flores press conference was impressive. For the most part, Vikings fans were already feeling great about the hire, but the time in front of the mic only magnified the enthusiasm that has been permeating Vikings enthusiasts. On the latest episode of Notes from the North – a humble Vikings podcast – Sam and I discuss the Flores presser before spending a few moments on the recent signings.

Take a peak at what Sensational Sam has to say: “On this weeks episode of Notes from the North, Kyle and Sam discuss Flores introductory press conference, and highlight some of the recent signings by the team.”

Flores is being relied upon to shepherd the defense back into relevance. No one can be satisfied with how things went during Kevin O’Connell’s first year at the helm, especially when we remember that the defensive futility was also present in 2020 and 2021. The new defensive coordinator spoke about an unusual – though fascinating – quality he’s looking to see on the field. You’ll have to give the podcast a listen to figure out what that is.

Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has brought OT Blake Brandel and DT Khyiris Tonga back in 2023. During the previous season, Brandel and Tonga exceeded expectations, providing quality play along the lines. Combining strong play with an excellent price tag – each are making a modest $940,000 per season – means that we’re looking at some nice moves from the purple GM.

Finally, Sam provides some discussion of the trade news for the Minnesota Wild. They’re a team that finds itself in a bit of a weird spot, and the trade reflects that reality.

Folks who are into Vikings podcasts or think they’d like to get into Vikings podcasts should feel free to give Notes from the North a shot. Hop over to iTunes, Spotify, or Podbean. My understanding is that you don’t need an account at these spots. Just press play and enjoy the pod.

Enjoy the listening, Vikings fan.
