Ah, what a difference a few weeks can make.
Minnesota is now on a five-game winning streak. As a result, they’re sitting at a very respectable 6-4 and in a wonderful position to make the playoffs. The latest episode of Notes from the North — a humble Vikings podcast — considers the brilliant Kevin O’Connell, the excellence from the defense, and all kinds of other topics.

Before getting ahead of ourselves, let’s see what Sizzlin’ Sam has to say: “The Vikings have now won 5 straight, and Kyle and Sam are here to talk about it. From a phenomenal first half, to an improving defense, to an exciting offense, there is lots to talk about as this Vikings team continues to turn around their season.”
No doubt: Kevin O’Connell was magnificent.
Being a bit picky would involve critiquing the approach in the second half. After all, the Vikings had built up a 24-point lead before seeing it dwindle down to just 8 points. A more aggressive approach may have been warranted even if some credit belongs to the Saints for climbing back in.
One thinks of D.J. Wonnum as an excellent example of someone who has thrived under the leadership of Brian Flores. The fourth-year edge rusher has never played better, which is good timing for him given that he’s operating on the final year of his rookie deal. He may be proving to Minnesota’s leadership that he deserves to stick around beyond 2023.
He picked up a sack against New Orleans, but that wasn’t his only impact play. Look for him to continue making some huge plays as he fills-in as the EDGE2.
Adding together all of the strong performances means Minnesota took down a hated foe, putting themselves in a strong spot for the playoffs. Listen in on the podcast to check out what else comes up in the analysis from Sizzlin’ Sam and I.
