Last time, Sizzlin’ Sam and I were fortunate to have Tyler Forness onto the pod. On the latest episode of Notes from the North – a humble Vikings podcast – it is Matt Fries of the Kindred Skols Podcast and Zone Coverage. Fries offers up a few thoughts on his background, the salary cap situation, and some impending free agents.

Matt gave his perspective on the state of the salary cap situation and ways out, and then talked about roster needs and what the Vikings could do come free agency.”
The salary cap chatter has been an ongoing thing here on PurplePTSD. Most recently, that has come in the form of discussing a way of eliminating all of the salary cap debt and who the next cut could be. Fries offers a good outside perspective, allowing us to shift our angle so that we can come at the issue with some fresh insight.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, much of the free agency discussion focused on the corner position. Fries had a couple names in mind for who makes sense, both of whom show up in the PurplePTSD Top 25 Free Agents for the Vikings. No Wild talk in this one, folks. From what I can gather, those goalies in Minnesota have been playing remarkably well. There are worse strategies than leaning on a sensational goalie in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
