Vikings Podcast (w/ Video): Christmas Catastrophe

Overcoming Detroit would have resulted in Minnesota being in the driver’s seat for the playoffs. Instead, Minnesota decided to crap the bed (a very technical, sophisticated football term).

The latest episode of Notes from the North — a Vikings podcast — considers what transpired in the Christmas catastrophe. Essentially, the Vikings decided to put their losing formula back onto the table. Turn the ball over at an unwinnable rate, show no desire to run the football, and get nowhere close to even par in the time of possession battle. Nail those three items and lose the game: such is life for the Vikings in many of the games in 2023.

Vikings Podcast: 12.27.2023

As per tradition, Sizzlin’ Sam gets the opening word.

My co-host offers the succinct description of the episode: “The Vikings lost to the Lions on Christmas Eve in what was a big hit to their playoff chances. Turnovers were the story again, and Kyle and Sam debate Mullens ability to provide what this team needs to make the playoffs. They also look at the playoff odds and give their thoughts on the Vikings’ chances to get to the postseason.”

The folks who are into videos can even find one of the podcast. Take a look:

Kevin O’Connell will now need to put together a pair of victories in the coming weeks to get his team into the postseason. And, of course, there’s the reality that the Vikings’ level of play has resulted in giving control away. Minnesota no longer has full control of whether they make it into the postseason. Instead, they need to hope the pair of teams that are ahead of them — the Rams and Seahawks — stumble in the final two weeks.

Nick Mullens was able to chew up a ton of yards and give his skill guys a shot. One does wonder, though, if there will be a switch at the game’s most important position. Tossing 4 interceptions will almost always lead to defeat.

The conversation drifts into other areas, including (but not limited to) the injuries that occurred, the play from the defense, and losing formula. Give the episode a listen to hear the entire dialogue.

Folks who are into Vikings podcasts or think they’d like to get into Vikings podcasts should feel free to give Notes from the North a shot. Hop over to iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, or Podbean. My understanding is that you don’t need an account at these spots. Just press play and enjoy the pod.

Enjoy the listening, Vikings fan.
