The Vikings’ Depth Chart Going Into Week 4 at the Panthers

Avoiding an 0-3 start was supposed to lead to a desperate, hungry Minnesota Vikings team. What about avoiding an 0-4 start, especially with the Kansas City Chiefs hanging out on deck?

The Vikings’ depth chart going into Week 4 doesn’t possess too many changes. However, there are several players who are likely fighting for their jobs. Failing to put a “1” in the win column would mean the season is officially on life support, a reality that most often leads to some notable changes.

Of course, one thinks of the recent additions: RB Cam Akers and iOL Dalton Risner. Both were brought to Minnesota for a reason. Namely, the goal is for them to contribute toward balancing an offense that has become overly reliant on passing the football. And, of course, when the ball is travelling through the air, Akers and Risner are supposed to help keep Kirk Cousins on his feet.

Defensively, the team is looking for much more help in the front seven.

Yes, Ivan Pace is a great story, but he can’t continue as the team’s second-best pass rusher. Seeing him find some production as a blitzer is fantastic news but the team needs far more out of Dean Lowry, D.J. Wonnum, and Patrick Jones. Danielle Hunter can only do so much.

Finally, we think of the challenge that Carolina will offer. Adam Thielen gets the chance to overcome his former team as Frank Reich tries to lead his squad to its first win. Ongoing fumble issues from the Vikings will almost certainly lead to the Vikings dropping every game in September alongside the opening one in October.

The Vikings and Panthers game takes place today at 12 p.m. CDT.
