The Vikings’ Depth Chart Going into Their Week 12 Game Against the Bears
Make no mistake: the Chicago Bears have some high-end talent on their roster. On par with the Vikings’ depth chart? Let’s not get carried away, but there’s talent present.
Recently, Ryan Poles made the somewhat befuddling decision to bring aboard Montez Sweat via trade with the Washington Commanders. Doing so gives Chicago a low-end EDGE1. Partnering the pass rusher with T.J. Edwards, Tremaine Edmunds, and Jaylon Johnson means there are building blocks present for the Bears’ defense. And, of course, that’s not even accounting for Justin Fields, Cole Kmet, D.J. Moore, and the Chicago offense. The Windy City Hibernating Mammals shouldn’t be overlooked.
In his first test under the bright lights of prime time, Josh Dobbs came up short for the Vikings. The Vikings lost on Sunday Night Football by a single point to the Denver Broncos. Fast forward a week and The Passtronaut has another opportunity in front of him.
On Monday Night Football, Dobbs will be looking to put together a much tighter performance. Playing a part in a pair of turnovers — which is to say nothing of his twin botched snaps with Garrett Brabdury — simply can’t happen. Or, at the very least, can’t happen if the intention is to continue pulling off unlikely victories.
Thankfully, there are still a lot of positives to build around. Ty Chandler did some remarkable work against the Broncos, so one wonders if Vikings fans will be treated to plenty of touches from the speedy sophomore. Expect to see a firmer commitment toward getting Jordan Addison involved and then for T.J. Hockenson to continue being the main pass catcher for Minnesota’s QB1. And the pass rush continues getting top-tier play from Danielle Hunter and surprisingly-strong play from D.J. Wonnum (a player who has terrorized the Bears in the past).
Plus, it’s worth noting that the quarterback position is looking considerably healthier. Dobbs now has Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall as the main backups. Those two inspire far more confidence than Sean Mannion and a mysterious emergency QB hidden in a regular player’s normal position.
Overcoming the Bears would mean the Vikings find themselves at 7-5 overall and, crucially, 3-0 within their division. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 CST and will take place inside U.S. Bank Stadium.
