The Vikings’ Depth Chart Going into their Week 10 Game Against the Saints

The depth portion of the Vikings’ depth chart is certainly being tested.
Seeing Cam Akers, Jaren Hall, and K.J. Osborn all subtracted from the equation certainly made things more challenging for Kevin O’Connell on offense. After all, those players were the RB2, QB1, and WR2 going into the Falcons game. Partnering those subtractions with the absence of Christian Darrisaw, Justin Jefferson, and Kirk Cousins — the clear-cut three most important players for O’Connell’s offense — made the Week 9 victory even more spectacular.

Mr. Dobbs, of course, certainly had something to do with that success. The man who is now affectionately known as The Passtronaut put together a marvellous performance that dominated the discussion around the NFL. When a noon game between a pair of 4-4 teams takes over the NFL headlines, you know something wild happened.
That wild thing was Josh Dobbs, who was unprepared but unbothered. More than a few Vikings fans are thinking back to 2017 and wondering if Dobbs has some Case Keenum magic tucked somewhere inside of himself.
Dobbs’ next test involves trying to overcome a talented New Orleans Saints team. Each team enters the week sitting at 5-4, so there won’t be any lack of motivation on each side. Dobbs will be hoping that T.J. Hockenson — his favorite target — isn’t slowed down by his rib ailment. Alexander Mattison, Jordan Addison, and Brandon Powell will then be his other main weapons (with a side helping of Josh Oliver, C.J. Ham, and Trishton Jackson).

O’Connell — who I’ve been critical of at various points — has done a masterful job in recent weeks. Since losing Justin Jefferson to injury, O’Connell has been keeping defenses off balance with his playcalling, finding smart ways of getting his other main weapons open. Oh, and the Vikings’ defense has gotten hot at the right time. Give Flores a raise.
Kickoff will take place at 12 p.m. CST inside U.S. Bank Stadium. Overcoming the Saints is always a welcome sight for Vikings fans, but especially when the pair of teams are in such a close battle for a coveted playoff spot.
