Vikings OLB Andre Carter Heads to PUP List; IOL Chris Reed Hits NFI List
The Minnesota Vikings will be in full-swing practice tomorrow as the veterans report to training camp for the remainder of the summer.
However, before that happens, Minnesota has made a number of roster moves. These moves include the addition of rookie UDFA Andre Carter to the Physically Unable to Perform list while veteran IOL Chris Reed goes to the Non-Football Injury List.
The team announced both moves on Monday evening along with the release of WR Malik Knowles and signing of both TE Colin Thompson as well as IOL Jack Snyder. It is important to remember that players placed on the PUP or NFI lists ahead of training camp’s beginning can come off at any time, so this is not necessarily a reason to panic or become disappointed at this point in time.
Carter, a product of Army, came to the Vikings as a very surprising undrafted free agent this spring. Many expected him to be a Day 3 or even late Day 2 draft selection, so the fact that he fell into the Vikings’ laps in the UDFA signing period was something of a miracle. Minnesota rewarded him, though, with a massive contract worth a total of $300,000.
As for Reed, he was a reserve swingman on the Vikings interior offensive line throughout the 2022 season. During camp, he was competition for Ed Ingram at right guard, and during the season, after both Garrett Bradbury and Austin Schlottmann went down with injury, he served at center during both Weeks 17 and 18 to conclude the regular season.
As of now, there is no indication as to how serious either injury is, but hopefully, they will both return to practice relatively soon.
