The View from VT: Stealing Training Camp, a Monstrous EDGE, & Former Viking Shuffle

The View from VT: August 12th, 2023
1) One Man Has Stolen the Show at Vikings Training Camp: He certainly had some notable plays against the Seahawks. Of course, the UDFA still has a long way to go; expect plenty of mistakes along the way. Give Kwesi credit, though, for aggressively prioritizing the upside defender following the draft. He looks like a steal.
2) Vikings New EDGE Rusher is Built like a Monster: Lots of optimism for the Army pass rusher. He’s humongous, meaning he stands out even among NFL football players. He’s in a battle with players like Luiji Vilain, D.J. Wonnum, Patrick Jones II, and a few others for snaps in 2023.
3) Vikings Defender Suffered Season-Ending Injury in Practice: Brutal seeing this kind of news. Something that’s notable about the James Lynch loss is that there’s now an open slot along the defensive line. Somewhat surprisingly, Kevin O’Connell had a certain veteran DL in mind to help step in.
4) Former Viking Signs with Jets: The Jets are starting a collection of former Vikings. Tyler Conklin stands out, but Chazz Surratt is also in town. Toss Ifeadi Odenigbo into the mix alongside Nick Vigil and there are purple connections aplenty. And what of Dalvin Cook? The running back has been linked to the Jets before (with one hack writer even calling it a layup).
5) Speedy Ex-Viking Joins Dolphins: The player shuffling continues. The corner now gets a chance to see if he can be of help to Miami’s defense. Meanwhile, Vikings fans can be keeping an eye on a Florida corner when it comes to helping out the secondary in Minnesota.
