The Minnesota Vikings went through a bit of an overhaul of their roster this offseason, with a number of familiar faces heading out the door while unproven youngsters are set to take on the task of being the future of the franchise. With training camp about a month away, here is a look at the remaining unsigned Vikings from the 2022 roster.
RB Dalvin Cook

The most recent release, Dalvin Cook is still on the open market waiting to find his next team for the 2023 season. The veteran running back has been to four-straight Pro Bowls while recording 1100+ rushing yards in each of those seasons for the Vikings.
It shouldn’t be too difficult for him to find a landing spot, considering how talented he is. However, it may come down to who is willing to pay him a lucrative deal while also allowing him to compete for a team poised to make a deep playoff run.
WR Thomas Hennigan

Thomas Hennigan has never played a game for the Vikings after a strong collegiate career at Appalachian State. With the Mountaineers, Hennigan recorded 242 receptions, 3124 yards, and 23 touchdowns over five years from 2017-2021. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Vikings ahead of training camp last season, but he was placed on IR in late August and never saw the field during the regular season.
WR Bisi Johnson

Bisi Johnson began his career in Minnesota with a promising rookie season where he caught 31 passes for 294 yards and 3 TDs during the 2019 season after being selected seventh round that spring. He followed that up with less impressive of a campaign in 2020, recording 14 receptions for 189 yards, but that was in Justin Jefferson’s first NFL season.
However, 2021 and 2022 were both derailed by injuries for Johnson as he tried to secure himself a role in the Vikings WR room. He tore ACLs during training camp in both years, and he remains a free agent as July approaches.
DE Kenny Willekes

Kenny Willekes was picked in seventh round of the 2020 Draft by the Vikings, but he is another player that has struggled through injuries throughout his NFL career. He missed the entirety of the 2020 season due to being placed on IR prior to the season’s start.
Willekes bounced back to play in six games during 2021, recording 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 2 tackles for loss over the course of the year. With this impressive stretch in 2021, there was some hope that he could play a role with the team in 2022, but again, injuries got the better of Willekes, landing on IR during training camp. He was waived by the team in May and remains a free agent.
