WR Trishton Jackson Has Been Waived by the Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings have a lot of work to do before the official roster cutdown deadline at 3 PM today.
As of Tuesday morning, Minnesota had 73 players on their roster, meaning they needed to make moves on 20 players (assuming no one else was added) to get down to the magic number of 53.
Well, the team’s first move of the day involved WR Trishton Jackson. According to a report from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Vikings have waived Jackson. Pelissero tweeted, “The #Vikings are waiving WR Trishton Jackson, per source.”
Vikings Waive WR Trishton Jackson
Jackson has been in the Vikings organization since 2021 when they added him to their practice squad. He was very close to making the roster in 2022, but he was part of the final wave of cuts and again landed on the practice squad.
The receiver has long ties to head coach Kevin O’Connell even going back to his 2020 season with the Los Angeles Rams. However, Jackson is yet to make his regular season NFL debut heading into his fourth year.
Jackson had a very strong summer with the Vikings. He appeared in the final two preseason games this year and caught 3 passes for 29 yards. However, Minnesota’s wide receiver depth was always going to make it tough for him to make the final roster.
The Vikings have one of the most talented receiver rooms in the league, currently employing Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, K.J. Osborn, Jalen Nailor, Jalen Reagor, and Brandon Powell.
The Vikings roster stands at 72 players following this move, meaning there are still 19 moves to come prior to 3 PM today.
