The Minnesota Vikings finalized their initial 53-man roster on Tuesday afternoon, giving fans a chance to see who they can expect to play on Sundays this fall.

However, the roster formation process is far from over before Week 1. On Wednesday, teams were able to begin forming their 16-player practice squads, and the Vikings first 2 practice squad moves involved offering more help to their offensive line.

The first move involved OL Tyrese Robinson. Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 reported the signing by tweeting, “OL Tyrese Robinson will be signing with Vikings [practice] squad per a source.”

Robinson was a 2022 undrafted free agent who joined the Wasington Commanders that spring. However, he did not get a chance to play in the preseason and was cut by Washington.

This season, he went to the Philadelphia Eagles for camp and appeared in all three 2023 preseason games. Robinson played a total of 78 offensive snaps and was a proficient pass-blocker for the team in his opportunities. Robinson would be waived by the Eagles, though. Now, he gets a chance to prove himself with Minnesota.

Minnesota’s second practice squad signing was OT Hakeem Adeniji. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network was first on this news, tweeting, “The #Vikings are expected to sign former #Bengals OT Hakeem Adeniji to their practice squad, source said. He started 15 games at four different positions for Cincy, including in the Super Bowl.”

The versatile offensive lineman has experience all across the o-line, as Rapoport suggested. The Bengals selected Adeniji in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Since then, he has recorded 100+ snaps at left tackle, right guard, and right tackle.

Considering the Vikings only kept eight offensive linemen on their 53-man roster, it makes sense that they would add some extra depth to their practice squad. They’ve also signed David Quessenberry this morning, giving them a ninth lineman on the roster.

The Vikings still have 14 spots left for their 2023 practice squad.
