A Firm Answer: Vikings Officially Cut Dalvin Cook

Well, Vikings fans have finally received some firm news about Dalvin Cook. The team has announced that they have released him.
The move will leave behind more than $5 million in dead money while freeing up $9 million.
Some are wondering if the front office misplayed the situation. Wouldn’t a trade have been better? True, an older RB with an injury history playing on a large deal isn’t the most lucrative trade option, but he’s still a top-10 RB when healthy. He’s capable of helping an offense reach another level.
Alas, it didn’t work out in the end, so the team decided to simply move on. Alongside the news, the Vikings’ Twitter also released a highlight video:
For a lot of Vikings fans, there was sense of weariness to the rumors. No one should be hoping for someone to lose their job; rather, fans were often looking for clarity. Furthermore, firmly deciding to move on from Cook is likely in his best interest. He now gets the chance to negotiate with the league’s other 31 teams before training camp arrives.
A 2nd-round selection in 2017, Dalvin Cook very quickly established himself as a special talent. He finishes his Vikings career with 5993 rushing yards, a 4.7 YPC average, and 47 TDs. Were it not for injuries, Cook would have far more robust numbers.
