Over this past weekend, the Minnesota Vikings made the decision to sign WR N’Keal Harry for the 2023 season.

Harry has had an interesting NFL career since being selected in the first round of the 2019 Draft by New England, and it was a bit surprising to see Minnesota decide to add not only him to the receiver room, but also rookie UDFA Jacob Copeland.

The N’Keal Harry Contract

On Wednesday, the full details regarding the Harry contract emerged. Over the Cap has him listed with a base salary of $1.08 million, with $940,000 counting against the salary cap. There isn’t any dead money on the deal, either, meaning the Vikings would save the full $940,000 if they decided to cut him.

Essentially, this is a very minimal amount for the Vikings, and their salary cap remains right around $10.6 million. This is the 11th-lowest number in the NFL, but it remains a respectable amount heading into the 2023 season.

The Vikings shouldn’t have had to splurge for a player like Harry, either. He may be a former first-round pick, but he has not lived up to that draft stock so far in his career.

During his rookie season of 2019, the receiver caught just 12 passes for 105 yards and 2 TDs. 2020 proved to be Harry’s best season to this point in his four-year NFL career. He recorded career-highs across the board, catching 33 passes for 309 yards, and 2 more TDs. Again, not large totals, but at least it was enough to keep him in the NFL.

However, after another disappointing season in 2021, during which Harry recorded 12 catches for 184 yards, the Patriots decided to trade him to the Chicago Bears prior to the 2022 season. Unfortunately, the receiver would get hurt during training camp and land on IR on September 1st.

The Bears were able to activate him in October, and Harry went on to play seven games for Chicago, catching 7 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown. His first game with the Bears actually came against the Patriots, and he caught a 14-yard pass in Chicago’s 33-14 victory.

Now, Harry heads to Minnesota where he joins a very deep wide receiver room that houses Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, K.J. Osborn, Jalen Reagor, Jalen Nailor, Brandon Powell, Blake Proehl, Trishton Jackson, Copeland, Thayer Thomas, Lucky Jackson, and Garrett Maag. Harry was listed as WR11 on the Vikings first unofficial depth chart.

The Vikings begin their preseason schedule tomorrow evening, traveling to Seattle to take on the Seahawks at 9 PM CST.
