The Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings are going to get to know each other very well this week.

Tennessee is in Eagan for a week of joint practice with Minnesota before the two teams clash in a preseason matchup on Saturday afternoon in U.S. Bank Stadium.

However, ahead of these joint practices, the Titans have made the decision to waive former Vikings pass rusher Zach McCloud. Aaron Wilson reported the news via tweet on Wednesday, “#Titans sign Michael Dwumfour [and] waive Zach McCloud.”

McCloud joined the Vikings in 2022 as an undrafted free agent after spending his collegiate years with the University of Miami (FL). Over the course of six seasons with the Hurricanes, he recorded a grand total of 192 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles.

During his final collegiate season, McCloud had 28 tackles and recorded career-bests in tackles for loss (7.5) and sacks (5.5). He helped Miami to a 7-5 record during that 2021 campaign before heading to the NFL.

McCloud appeared in all three preseason games for the Vikings in 2022, and he recorded 6 tackles. He also had a QB hit against the Denver Broncos in the final exhibition game.

However, when training camp wrapped up, McCloud was one of the cuts as the Vikings trimmed down to their final 53-man roster. He remained a free agent for awhile, but it was the Broncos who gave him a call in November, signing him to their practice squad.

The pass rusher remained in Denver for about a month, but in early December, Denver also released him. He would not sign with another team for the remainder of the 2022 season.

McCloud then caught on with the Titans this spring, and he appeared in Tennessee’s first preseason game against the Chicago Bears, recording one tackle. However, it seems his time in Tennessee has come to an end prior to the beginning of joint practices with his first NFL team.
