This week, we got a chance to see the first Vikings preseason action as the team took on the Seattle Seahawks.
As we prepare to enter the second week of the preseason, here are all the purple headlines that you may have missed over the past few days.
First Vikings Preseason Game
The Minnesota Vikings took the field for their first preseason action on Thursday evening. They took on the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field, and while they lost the game 24-13, it was a great chance to see some of the younger Vikings players in action as we learn more about who may make the final 53-man roster.
Kareem Hunt Visits Vikings
In the aftermath of Minnesota’s first preseason game, free agent RB Kareem Hunt came to Eagan and visited the Vikings. The Vikings recently signed Abram Smith to join their group as well, and this visit suggests that Minnesota may not be entirely content with their RB position behind Alexander Mattison and Ty Chandler.
Kyle Sloter, Mike Zimmer Rivalry?
Kyle Sloter became a fan-favorite in Minnesota during the 2018 and 2019 preseasons for some heroic performances in those exhibition games. Helping lead the Vikings to a 6-2 record over the two preseasons, the QB passed for 809 yards, eight touchdowns, and one single interception. He also rushed for 45 yards and another touchdown.
Sloter never made a Vikings roster, though, and recently, the former Vikings QB took to social media saying that there was a rivalry between himself and then head coach Mike Zimmer.
Since his time with the Vikings, Sloter has had stints with other NFL teams as well as time in the USFL and the XFL, but he hasn’t been able to recreate the magic that he showcased in Minnesota.
