This weekend, both the Los Angeles Chargers and Minnesota Vikings are hoping to escape from their 0-2 holes to begin the 2023 season.

However, Wednesday revealed that the Chargers are still working through a number of injuries as seven players were listed on the injury report.

Thursday brought much of the same as Los Angeles once again had a long list on their report, which included 4 DNPs.

Once again, neither RB Austin Ekeler or LB Eric Kendricks were able to participate in practice, and to make matters worse, OLB Joey Bosa joined them on the sidelines. Here is a look at the full report from the Chargers side:

  • OLB Joey Bosa (Hamstring, DNP)
  • RB Austin Ekeler (Ankle, DNP)
  • LB Daiyan Henley (Hamstring, Full)
  • DL Christopher Hinton (Back, DNP)
  • LB Eric Kendricks (Hamstring, DNP)
  • OLB Chris Rumph (Hamstring, Full)
  • WR Mike Williams (Ankle, Full)

Bosa was a DNP in both the Wednesday and Thursday sessions prior to the Chargers’ Week 2 game versus the Tennessee Titans, but he got onto the field as a limited participant on Friday. This proved to be enough to get him onto the field last weekend, and he recorded a pair of sacks against the Titans.

This Wednesday, Bosa was a limited participant before becoming a DNP on Thursday, so it is unclear as to whether the injury was re-aggravated, or if the Chargers are playing it as safely as possible with their veteran pass-rusher.

Meanwhile, Ekeler has been a non-participant in practice going back to last week, and he was forced to sit out of Sunday’s game against Tennessee. It seems like he is on track to miss another game this weekend, which would put Joshua Kelley back in the starting lineup at running back.

Kelley has had a respectable showing to this point in the season, rushing 29 times for 130 yards and a touchdown. However, he had some struggles last weekend against Tennessee, totaling just 13 carries for 39 yards.

Both teams will release one more injury report on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday, September 24th at 12 PM Central inside U.S. Bank Stadium.
