The Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings are about to do battle at Soldier Field this afternoon.

Both teams enter the weekend at 1-4, hoping to avoid the basement of the NFC North with a victory in Week 6.

Ahead of the game, the Chicago Bears have listed their inactives for Sunday, including rookie RB Roschon Johnson.

Here is the full list of inactives for Chicago:

  • QB Nathan Peterman
  • RB Roschon Johnson
  • RB Travis Homer
  • OL Aviante Collins
  • DB Terell Smith

The loss of Johnson is a huge blow to Chicago’s backfield, considering Khalil Herbert was also placed on IR prior to this game. The duo has combined for 76 carries this season, totaling 394 rushing yards and a touchdown and helping the Bears to be a top-10 rushing offense through five weeks.

Now, the majority of the carries for Chicago will likely go to D’Onta Foreman. The veteran was signed this spring in free agency after a career season in 2022 with the Carolina Panthers. Foreman totaled 203 carries for 905 yards and 5 TDs last season. They were all career-high numbers.

However, Foreman has yet to solidify a role in Chicago’s offense to this point in the season. He has just 5 carries for 16 yards to his name so far this year, but that number will likely skyrocket with the top backs out this weekend.

Minnesota fans will also recognize Terell Smith’s name on this list. The safety spent five collegiate seasons with the Minnesota Gophers from 2018-2022. Over those seasons, he recorded 109 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, 16 passes defended, and 4 interceptions.

The Bears selected Smith in the fifth round of the 2023 Draft, and thus far, he has been a steady contributor for Chicago’s defense. He has played 50% of the Bears’ defensive snaps which have resulted in 21 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 passes defended, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

Without Smith, the Bears will have to rely more on players like Jaquan Brisker and Elijah Hicks in their secondary to play the safety position.

Kickoff between the Bears and Vikings is scheduled for 12 PM Central on Sunday.
