“All Signs” Point Towards a 49ers Star Playing on Monday vs. the Vikings

The San Francisco 49ers have been dealing with a number of injuries to some of their star players in the aftermath of their Week 6 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
The team already ruled out WR Deebo Samuel for Monday night’s game against the Minnesota Vikings because of his shoulder injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that he has a hairline fracture that will sideline him for the next two games.
However, there does seem to be some positive injury news for the Niners ahead of this game. According to a report on Sunday, RB Christian McCaffrey seems set to suit up in Week 7.
All Signs Point Towards Christian McCaffrey Playing vs. Vikings
Adam Schefter of ESPN tweeted on Sunday, “All signs point to 49ers’ RB Christian McCaffrey playing Monday night at Minnesota, despite the fact that he is listed as questionable due to an oblique injury, per sources. McCaffrey returned to practice in a limited way Saturday and said after that he feels ‘great.'”
McCaffrey was acquired via trade at the deadline last season, and since joining the team, he has revolutionized their rushing offense. Over 17 regular season games, the running back has totaled 269 carries for 1299 yards and 17 touchdowns. Not only that, but he has caught 75 passes for 641 receiving yards and 6 more TDs.
So far this season, McCaffrey is the NFL’s leading rusher with 553 yards. His presence in the lineup is crucial for San Francisco considering their other two backs (Jordan Maason and Elijah Mitchell) have totaled 39 carries for 166 yards and 2 TDs.
McCaffrey has been questionable for tomorrow’s game against the Vikings because he suffered an oblique injury last weekend against the Browns. The injury forced him to exit the game, and he was a DNP on both the Thursday and Friday injury reports for San Francisco.
Without McCaffrey, San Francisco’s offense took a notable step back versus Cleveland, resulting in their first loss of the season. The 49ers fell by a score of 19-17 on the road.
San Francisco is hoping to get back on track following the loss, and the presence of McCaffrey in their backfield will be a huge boost for them. Meanwhile, the Vikings are coming off their second victory of the season when they defeated the Chicago Bears in Week 6.
Kickoff between the two teams is scheduled for 7:15 PM Central inside U.S. Bank Stadium on Monday, October 23rd.
