6 Vikings Were Listed as DNP on Wednesday’s Injury Report

The Minnesota Vikings have officially begun preparing for their Week 16 matchup against the Detroit Lions.
It is a very important game for Minnesota as they try to keep their NFC North hopes alive. On Wednesday, the Vikings released their first injury report of the week, and this initial report includes multiple Vikings stars. In total, there are nine players listed.
6 Vikings Were Listed as DNP on Wednesday’s Injury Report

Here is a look at the full list of Vikings injuries:
- DL Jonathan Bullard (Ankle, Limited)
- DL Sheldon Day (Ankle, Limited)
- LB Jordan Hicks (Shin, Full)*
- OLB Danielle Hunter (Illness, DNP)
- RB Alexander Mattison (Ankle, DNP)
- CB Byron Murphy (Hamstring, DNP)
- WR Jalen Nailor (Concussion, DNP)
- RT Brian O’Neill (Ankle, DNP)
- DL Harrison Phillips (Back, DNP)
*: Currently within 21-day practice window
It should be noted that the Vikings only held a walkthrough on Wednesday, so this injury report is simply an estimation from the team.
Still, there are a couple surprising names on this list. Alexander Mattison, Jalen Nailor, and Brian O’Neill, of course, did not suit up on Sunday because of their ailments. However, all three of Danielle Hunter, Byron Murphy, and Harrison Phillips played the full game but have been listed as DNP on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Bullard and Sheldon Day were also listed as limited participants, meaning the Vikings have three of their five active defensive lineman on the injury report. The only fully healthy defensive linemen on the 53-man roster right now are Jaquelin Roy and Khyiris Tonga.
Luckily, there is still some good news for the Vikings from this report. LB Jordan Hicks, who was designated to return from IR on Monday and had his 21-day practice window opened, was a full participant on Wednesday.
The Vikings have been without their starter since Week 11, and this weekend’s game against Detroit would be the first that he is eligible to come off IR for.

Meanwhile, Justin Jefferson is also completely off the injury report for the first time since returning from IR himself. It appears that both his hamstring and chest injuries have officially healed up, and he should be ready to go once again on Sunday.
The Vikings will release two more injury reports on Thursday and Friday. Then, this NFC North rivalry game between Minnesota and Detroit will kick off on Sunday, December 24th at 12 PM Central inside U.S. Bank Stadium.
