2 Vikings Left Tuesday’s Practice with Injuries

Training camp practices have been going on for about a week in Eagan, Minnesota, with the Vikings getting their first padded practices in early this week.
While training camp is a time of excitement for fan bases, the unfortunate reality is that injuries will impact players and their futures in the coming month.
Minnesota finally had these injuries impact their practice on Tuesday, with 2 Vikings leaving practice during the afternoon. The first of these players was CB Andrew Booth. Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling tweeted, “Vikings cornerback Andrew Booth just walked off with a member of the team’s athletic training staff.”

Booth has gone through injury struggles throughout his football career. The second-round pick had his rookie season with the Vikings cut short due to a meniscus tear, but hopefully, the fact that he was able to walk off the field on Tuesday indicates that it was a minor issue like a cramp rather than a serious problem. The CB appeared in 106 defensive snaps last season prior to his meniscus injury, making one start for the Vikings.
The Vikings have a wide open battle at the cornerback position behind free agent acquisition Byron Murphy, and the hope was that Booth would be one of the players competing for that starting spot, particularly given the draft capital spent on the CB. We’ll see if this injury puts a damper on that competition for the 2022 Draft pick or not.
Shortly after the Booth injury, promising WR Trishton Jackson also left practice, but his injury seems more serious. He was carted off the field with a knee injury, as reported by Goessling who tweeted, “They’re getting the cart for Vikings receiver Trishton Jackson, who went down with what appeared to be a right knee injury after a deep ball on the sideline. Justin Jefferson, Kevin O’Connell and Kwesi Adofo-Mensah all went over to check on him.”

Jackson is entering his fourth NFL season, but the 25-year-old is yet to appear in a regular season game. To this point in training camp, the wide receiver has put together quite a highlight reel, with a couple very sweet catches circulating around social media.
A year ago, Jackson was one of the Vikings preseason heroes before being cut. Over the course of the three exhibition games, he caught five passes for a total of 71 yards. Prior to joining the Vikings, he spent training camps in 2020 and 2021 with the Los Angeles Rams where he was coached by Kevin O’Connell. During the 2021 preseason, he started two games and caught five passes for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Jackson has been vying for a roster spot with the Vikings this year in the midst of a competition with Jalen Reagor, Jalen Nailor, Brandon Powell, and Blake Proehl.
The Vikings are far from the only team to be bitten by the injury bug to this point in camp. Other notable injuries across the league include QB Joe Burrow, WR Tim Patrick, and CB Jalen Ramsey.
