Former Vikings WR Visits with the Patriots
A number of former Minnesota Vikings hit free agency, and it seems that one may be on his way to a new team. That player is former Vikings WR Bisi Johnson, who reportedly is headed to the New England Patriots for a visit, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Johnson spent his first four seasons with the Vikings after being a seventh-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he burst onto the scene as a surprise contributor for the Vikings, catching 31 passes for 294 yards and 3 TDs. He appeared in all 16 games and even made six starts.
In 2020, he began the season in the starting lineup, but quickly saw his role diminish due to the emergence of Justin Jefferson. Still, he appeared in all 16 games with three starts and recorded 14 receptions and 189 yards.
However, each of the past two seasons have been derailed by injury for Johnson. Prior to the start of both the 2021 and 2022 seasons, he’s suffered torn ACLs, knocking him out for the year.
Now, Johnson potentially heads to New England where he could team up with recently signed JuJu Smith-Schuster as well as Devante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, Raleigh Webb, Matthew Slater, and Lynn Bowden Jr. The soon-to-be 26-year-old receiver could certainly find a role on that team if he can stay healthy next season.
