The Minnesota Vikings took on the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, falling to the defending NFC champs by a score of 34-28.

The Vikings now find themselves in an 0-2 hole that they will have to dig themselves out of if they want to make the playoffs again this year.

As the team begins preparation for Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers, here is a look at all the purple headlines of the past week.

The Minnesota Vikings traveled to Philadelphia on a short week, taking on the Eagles in Week 2 on Thursday Night Football.

Once again, Minnesota’s sloppy play cost them the game, and they fumbled four times over a stretch of five possessions. This included a goal-line fumble from Justin Jefferson that resulted in a touchback for the Eagles. It turned a potential end-of-half touchdown into a 61-yard field goal from Jake Elliott.

In the end, the Vikings tried to storm back into the game, but they fell 34-28. Minnesota now sits in an 0-2 hole and face arguably a must-win situation against the Chargers in Week 3.

Oli Udoh Out for the Year

With Christian Darrisaw out due to an ankle injury, it was Oli Udoh that got the start for the Vikings at left tackle. Udoh performed well against a stout Eagles defensive front, but unfortunately, he had to be carted off the field with a leg injury.

On Friday, Kevin O’Connell announced that Udoh will be out for the remainder of the season with a torn quad. It is a very unfortunate development for the 2019 sixth-round pick who re-signed with Minnesota this offseason. Now, the Vikings will hope that Darrisaw is able to return for their Week 3 matchup against the Chargers. If he is unable to play, it appears that David Quessenberry would be in line to start next weekend.

With the Vikings off to a slow start in 2023, once again, trade rumors have begun circulating around QB Kirk Cousins.

The latest team that folks are trying to send Cousins to? The New York Jets. Following Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles tear that will end his 2023 season, many have been clamoring for New York to make a QB move to try and salvage their year.

In theory, it would make some sense for New York. Cousins is a superior player to Zach Wilson, and with all the weapons on the Jets roster along with their elite defense, he could help them make a run. However, Cousins has a no-trade clause on his contract, so even if the Vikings would be interested in a trade, the QB can veto any move.
