Vikings Podcast: Bold Predictions Revisited

Going 0 for 6 is … less than stellar. As many of you have suspected for a little while now, the powers that be at Notes from the North may not be the brightest football minds on the planet. At the very least, Sam and I will take some comfort in knowing that we circled back to our failures. The latest episode of Notes – our humble Vikings podcast – considers the 3 bold predictions we each made going into the season.

Take a peak at what Sam had to say: “On this weeks episode of Notes from the North, the guys revisit how they feel a week after the playoff loss, discuss the firing of Ed Donatell, and then get into revisiting the bold predictions they made at the start of the year and see how close they were to them.”

Before getting to the meat and potatoes of the conversation, Sam and I briefly consider the news that Ed Donatell has been fired. Put simply, the defense wasn’t near good enough in 2022, so the decision to move on from the veteran coach wasn’t particularly surprising.

The majority of our focus rested on unpacking our failed guesses before the season began. I insisted that we’d see Kirk Cousins surpass 5,000 passing yards, Danielle Hunter & Za’Darius Smith combine for 30 sacks, and then the offense + the defense finish as a top 10 group from the regular season. In the end, all of the bold predictions ended up being misguided.

You’ll have to give it a listen to see where Sam erred.

No hockey talk this week. At some point, Sam will fire it up again. Hopefully, the Wild fans among the listeners aren’t too disappointed by the lack of puck focus.

Folks who are into Vikings podcasts or think they’d like to get into Vikings podcasts should feel free to give Notes from the North a shot. Hop over to iTunes, Spotify, or Podbean. My understanding is that you don’t need an account at these spots. Just press play and enjoy the pod.

Enjoy the listening, Vikings fan.
