As expected, Week 2 of the college football season brought a number of wild endings and some crazy upsets to the table. Week 3’s slate of games looks like it might be much tamer, but here are a few of the biggest games to keep an eye on across the country this Saturday.

Georgia @ South Carolina

This is really the last-ditch effort for South Carolina to force people to put some respect on their name. After a strong showing against Georgia State in Week 1, Spencer Rattler looked completely out of sorts against Arkansas in their second game of the season.

Rattler has gone from a consensus top draft pick and has fallen completely out of favor. If he is going to raise his stock, and South Carolina has any hopes of being a bowl team, they need to come out and play competitive against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Penn State @ Auburn

It’s always fun when big programs play home-and-home matchups. After Auburn made the trip up to Penn State last year, Penn State heads down south to play at Auburn in Week 3. Penn State opens as 3.5-point favorites on the road, but with Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin on the hot seat, the Tigers need to come away with a win.

They escaped in Week 2 with a win against San Jose State last week, but #22 Nittany Lions are the first true test of the season for Auburn. With QB Sean Clifford, Penn State should be looking to move the ball through the air while Auburn has one of the strongest running games in college football anchored by Tank Bigsby. The contrasting styles should make this a very competitive game.

BYU @ Oregon

Early on in the college football season, BYU has been one of the most impressive teams in the country. They got their season started with a blowout victory over South Florida before an impressive win against #9 Baylor in their introductory game to Big 12 football before joining the conference next year.

On the other side, Oregon got their season started with a blowout loss to Georgia, 49-3, before QB Bo Nix led them to a 70-14 win over Eastern Washington. Heading into this Week 3 matchup, BYU is trying to confirm that they are worthy of being a New Year’s Six bowl contender while the Oregon Ducks hope to legitimize themselves as a bowl team this year.
