Storm clouds roll in over Mount Rushmore on Thursday, July 2. Keystone 015

The following questions are about current Minnesota Vikings topics, answered by PurplePTSD. Today is the June 28th edition, addressed in a from-the-hip fashion. If you have questions, please email them to DustinBakerNFL@gmail.com.

Also, please note: These are opinion-based responses. Some answers will be incorrect from time to time. But we’ll try to keep that to a minimum.

Q: Which four players would you put on a Vikings Mount Rushmore?

A: For a team that has never won a Super Bowl, selecting a Mount Rushmore is strangely difficult.

We could host a three-hour podcast on this topic and still not come to a resolution. But if we’re opting not to include head coaches, our Vikings Mount Rushmore is Carl Eller, Randall McDaniel, Randy Moss, and Fran Tarkenton.

Moss is actually the iffiest carving into this Mount Rushmore because other Vikings played significantly longer with the team than him.

But gives us Eller, McDaniel, Moss, and Tarkenton to hold up in a debate.

Q: Is it correct that there is no weekend night practice this year at Vikings training camp?

Early Takeaways from Vikings Minicamp
Dalvin Cook

A: Yes, this is correct. The Vikings famous night scrimmage will occur on Monday, August 8th.

The new training camp schedule is likely a product of a fresh front office and coaching staff changing things. And that’s okay. Change is good.

Fans can still attend the night practice, albeit on a weeknight. But fans attend Monday Night Football games with ease, so if there’s a will, there’s a way.

Q: Who would you choose first in a PPR fantasy draft? Justin Jefferson or Dalvin Cook?

A: Jefferson is the answer here, chiefly because of health.

Cook is seemingly guaranteed to miss a couple of games in 2022; that’s his modus operandi. On the other hand, it sounds like the Vikings will use Cook more as a wide receiver — a tantalizing forecast for fantasy managers.

Because the NFL — and fantasy football — is trending toward throwing the ball to the utmost, we’ll choose Jefferson over Cook in PPR fantasy formats.
