Q: If Adam Thielen is traded, what will the Vikings get back?
A: For any of the players linked to the CBS Sports report — Thielen, Dalvin Cook, Eric Kendricks, and Michael Pierce — the trade return will probably underwhelm fans.
Those men are “old” for their positions, so a 3rd or 4th-Rounder for each is likely the trade value. At the peak of their respective powers, they’re worth more than that. But now, the goal via trade would be to get rid of their chunky salaries.
Whether this actually happens, we shall see.
Q: Any thoughts on Cousins maybe traded to the Seahawks?
A: Sure. The Vikings and Seahawks have traded a lot in the last 15 years — and Seattle needs a quarterback unless it holds Drew Lock in an oddly positive light.
On the whole, a trade of Cousins to the Seahawks is unlikely because he’ll probably remain the Vikings QB1 once the money details are mitigated.
But, indeed, the Seahawks are on the shortlist if Kwesi Adofo-Mensah says sayonara to Cousins.
Q: Did anything additional ever come out on why Eric Sugarman left or why Ifeadi Odenigbo wasn’t a fan?
A: No, no explicit details surfaced.
However, on Bleav in Vikings, Bryant McKinnie (who worked with Sugarman for five seasons) stated Sugarman’s humor is often sarcastic — for effect. McKinnie had no beef with Sugarman, instead defending his former trainer.
He cited an example of “some of these youngsters” not quite understanding “breakin’ balls” banter.
The truth — Sugarman’s previously pristine reputation and Odenigbo’s rebuttal — is probably somewhere in the middle.
