Q: Why did Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s comments about Kirk Cousins blow up?

A: This one was silly.

Kwesi Adofo-Mensah told the USA Today that the Vikings don’t have a Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes-caliber quarterback. Everybody knew that; everybody knows that.

Well, the interview was twisted to make Adofo-Mensah seem anti-Cousins, which is false. Instead, the Vikings general manager merely explained the NFL is an easier place to navigate with the best player of all time. You’re more likely to win a Super Bowl with Tom Brady. Duh.

Like most Cousins’ hate, this take is dumb.

Q: If Justin Jefferson “isn’t fond of money,” how much do you think he’ll get per year with his next contract?

A: Indeed, Jefferson claimed money isn’t his first priority, a nod to his pursuit of “best in the league” status as a wide receiver.

Still, Jefferson will be rich — very, very rich. If Jefferson and the Vikings strike a deal next spring, he will likely net $30-$35 million per year. Just because he isn’t a money-hound doesn’t mean the Vikings will pay him a discounted rate.

He will come around for the dollar signs. They always do.

Q: Why no Jordan Hicks on the first day of camp?

Oct 28, 2021; Glendale, Arizona, USA; Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) is pressured by Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Jordan Phillips (97) and middle linebacker Jordan Hicks (58) at State Farm Stadium. Nfl Green Bay Packers At Arizona Cardinals.

A: Hicks has COVID.

He isn’t injured and should be ready next week. Hicks will be a big addition to the Vikings in 2022 as it doesn’t appear Anthony Barr is returning. Also, Hicks rarely comes off the field, so fans will be intimately familiar with the former Cardinal by October.

Although, if something else happens to Hicks, rookie Brian Asamoah would be the next man up.
