Q: So, the Vikings GM said Kirk Cousins is dialed in and in “zero dark LeBron” mode this offseason. Why will this season be any different for Cousins, who’s been in the league for 10 years?

A: Cousins personally could end up with similar numbers because 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions — his statline from 2021 — was phenomenal.

It’s the team around him that may benefit from a new head coach. Of course, with an offense-first coach, Cousins could explode even further, but all he really needs is a defense that doesn’t crumble in crucial spots.

Adofo-Mensah was hyping his quarterback, a smart thing for a leader to do.

Q: With Ryan Jensen’s injury down in Tampa, is JC Tretter all but confirmed to sign there?

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (24) rushes for yards behind Cleveland Browns center JC Tretter (64) during the second half of an NFL football game against the Houston Texans, Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, in Cleveland, Ohio. Chubb 1

A: It’s nowhere near official, but we expect Tretter to join the Buccaneers.

Why? Well, the rich always get richer, which is one of the [many] perks of employing Tom Brady on the roster. Dudes want to play with him, ensuring seemingly guaranteed Super Bowl contention.

The Ryan Jensen absence for Tampa Bay has the potential to be deadly for an offensive line, and because no team has jumped on Tretter for unknown reasons, the ex-Cleveland Brown joining Brady and Co. certainly checks out.

Q: Do you expect Andrew Booth to win a CB job, especially after his fabulous first day of camp?

Clemson cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. (23) reacts after tackling Georgia Tech freshman Jahmyr Gibbs (1) during the fourth quarter in Clemson, S.C., September 18, 2021. Ncaa Football Georgia Tech At Clemson

A: Booth was a smidgen of an underdog to oust Patrick Peterson and Cameron Dantzler from their incumbent starting gigs. Yet, if Booth was going to do so, his performance on Day One of Vikings training camp was the opening salvo necessary.

He looked wonderful out of the gate, the perfect output for a rookie hoping to start Week 1.

It was only one day of camp, so Booth will have to keep it up. But Wednesday provided a glimpse of why some draft pundits tabbed Booth as a 1st-Round draft pick back in January and February.
