Questions Answered: Eagles Beefing Up, GB’s Threat, Darrisaw’s Status
The following questions are about current Minnesota Vikings topics, answered by PurplePTSD. Today is the November 17th edition, addressed in a from-the-hip fashion. If you have questions, please email them to DustinBakerNFL@gmail.com.
Also, please note: These are opinion-based responses. Some answers will be incorrect from time to time. But we’ll try to keep that to a minimum.
Q: Are the Eagles now unstoppable after adding Ndamukong Suh and Linval Joseph?
A: No, those men are aging veterans.
Those players are fine and dandy and will provide instant depth and credibility. But they’re not quite like a Von-Miller-to-Rams deal in 2021. The Eagles have to determine if both men “still have it.”
Suh fired up a 49.4 Pro Football Focus grade in 2021. That’s terrible. It was either the beginning of his age-related decline or an outlier year.
The Eagles can be beaten, and the Washington Commanders proved as much on Monday night. Their schedule has been advantageous to date as well. Vikings fans are just spooked about Philadelphia because Jalen Hurts and his pals thrashed Minnesota in Week 2.
Suh and Joseph will help, but they’re not mic-drops.
Q: Do the Packers still pose any threat to the Vikings for winning the NFC North?
Three weeks ago, the answer was yes or possibly. But after Green Bay lost five straight — while Minnesota won seven consecutive and counting — the answer is a defiant and emphatic no.
The Packers must finish the season 6-1, while the Vikings collapse with a 1-7 record. Or Green Bay could go 7-0 if the Vikings finish 2-6. Let’s be serious — are either of those scenarios going to happen?
That said, the Packers could slip into the sixth- or seventh-seed seed inside the NFC’s playoff picture — then they could get frisky and pester the Vikings. But they’d have to do it at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Green Bay has a tough schedule. They’re not running the table. The division is Minnesota’s. Book it.
Q: Will Christian Darrisaw play on Sunday?
A: Darrisaw was concussed at Buffalo and didn’t practice Wednesday. But he did return in limited capacity on Thursday, indicating he’s trending toward a start.
This one will evolve into Friday, but Darrisaw is probably a safe bet for Week 11.
