Q: Are you buying the Kirk Cousins MVP smoke provided by Michael Irvin and Kyle Brandt?
A: No — not guns ablaze.
Cousins will probably strike for 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. But that’s what he always does. His resume will look better (hopefully), as the Vikings should have a winning record if all goes according to plan.
He’s a fashionable pick this week because folks realize that Mike Zimmer isn’t in charge of the Vikings offense any longer. It’s a “McVay guy.” Cousins as the MVP is a hot take — one that we enjoy.
Q: Is Jonathan Bullard really a starter? Like, for real?
A: Yes. For now, the plan for life after Armon Watts is Jonathan Bullard, per the Vikings depth chart.
Don’t forget that Bullard is a 3rd-Round draft pick — not some undrafted Hail Mary tried on for size by the Vikings. Bullard has ties to defensive coordinator Ed Donatell from their Chicago Bears days, so the move isn’t terribly surprising when one examines it that way.
Give him a chance; he may surprise you. Otherwise, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah acquired Ross Blacklock to hedge the bet.
They could also sign Ndamukong Suh if defensive operations look grim.
Q: Can it be legitimate that the Vikings have just one injury on the first injury report?
In the words of the Joker from 1989 Batman, “It is legitimate.”
Read it and weep. One injury.
Ironically, the injury is to the aforementioned Bullard, so fans might get a look at Ross Blacklock after all.
The 2021 Los Angeles Rams encountered a terrific bill of health — probably why they won the Super Bowl. It seems Kevin O’Connell might’ve dragged some of the good voodoo to the Twin Cities.
