The View from VT: Bears Fire Sale, an Old Friend, & Needing a TE

1) Suddenly, the Vikings Have a Magic Number: The playoffs aren’t that far off. Surpassing Week 9 – which will occur once the Minnesota Vikings play the Washington Commanders – means the season is halfway done. Ideally, Kevin O’Connell’s squad will be looking at a 7-1 record following the weekend.
2) Bears Fire Sale Continues with Massive Trade: Kind of an odd trade deadline for the Bears. I’m not suggesting they made bad decisions but, rather, some interesting ones. Trading away talent was expected but bringing in a young WR was unexpected (at least to my mind). Minnesota and Chicago have taken different approaches to 2022. It’ll be fascinating to see where both teams are in a few years.
3) Former Vikings WR Didn’t Last Long with Cardinals: Laquon Treadwell has now moved onto a different bird team, as Josh Frey notes in his piece. Treadwell’s time in the NFL has not been without its challenges. He keeps getting opportunities, so hopefully he can stick around one spot and find a role.
4) Vikings Should Call Old Friend for Stretch Run: As we discussed up top, the season is nearing the halfway point. What must the Minnesota Vikings do to give themselves the best shot at winning? Dustin offers a suggestion.
5) Vikings Suddenly Need a TE: Thankfully, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah added someone who has the potential to really help the offense. T.J. Hockenson can partner with Justin Jefferson for years to come. In the immediate, the team ought to benefit from yet another receiving weapon.
